On October 10, 1942, the Wang Jingwei regime held a grand celebration for the National Government. However, a series of assassination attempts on military and political officials left the head of the secret police, Wang Tianxiang (played by Wang Zhiwen), on edge. During the torture interrogation of a female assassin (played by Liu Weiwei), he obtained a critical piece of intelligence—an underground party codename "Old Ghost" had infiltrated the anti-bandit command center. Eager to achieve results, Wang Tianxiang immediately reported to the chief of the Japanese imperial army's secret agency, Takeda (played by Huang Xiaoming).
