The Qing court, seeing the Shaolin Temple as a thorn in their side, utilized information provided by spies they had placed within the temple to dispatch various skilled fighters to set the temple on fire, with the deliberate intent of annihilating the Shaolin disciples in one fell swoop. The attack came suddenly, and after a hasty battle, nine out of ten monks and lay disciples perished. The lone survivor, Fang Dahong (Meng Fei), fled to Guangdong to join Li Shikai (Qi Guanjun) and discuss how to continue the fight against the Qing Dynasty and restore the Ming. Meanwhile, Hu Deti (Jiang David), Cai Dezhong (Di Long), Ma Chaoxing (Fu Sheng), and others headed north to the Central Plains, trying every means to find the traitor within the temple, determined to avenge their fallen Shaolin brothers. — The five initially had doubts about Shaolin Kung Fu, but later realized it was not the fault of Shaolin skills, but rather their own lack of proficiency. They then devoted themselves to training and ultimately achieved mastery, later being known as the "Five Ancestors of Shaolin."
