Traditionally, martial artists have the saying "Respect the Teacher and Value the Way," but not every matter in the martial world is black and white. Gao Jian (Jiang Lin) is a young disciple under a prominent martial arts master, known for his straightforward nature, often bullied by senior brothers, and his master, Shi Zhengzhong, has little affection for him. One day, Gao observes injustice and saves the injured martial arts eccentric Jin Tianyun (Chen Guantai), hiding him in a storage room he lives alone in; Jin, grateful for Gao's righteous act while himself severely injured and with little time left, unreservedly passes on his martial skills to Gao. However, unbeknownst to Gao, Jin is an enemy of his master, and when Gao inadvertently reveals exceptional skills during training, his master learns the truth and condemns him for "betraying the sect." Ironically, it is this "traitor" who seeks revenge for the sect’s grievances.
