Young Tao man Huang Zhi-Yuan (Mei Ba Na) returns to his hometown of Lanyu with sound engineer A Fei to collect sounds of nature and unexpectedly meets art teacher An An. While many young people's dreams are to venture out into the world, these individuals aspire to stay in their hometown, in a place that belongs to the ocean, to flying fish, to the Tao people—"Island of People." This film, directed for the first time by Wang Jin-Gui, assistant director of Zhang Zuo-Ji, conveys a deep affection for the land amidst breathtaking scenery.
