The unexpected encounter begins with a company employee, Sakaguchi, who was rescued from the train tracks after being overwhelmed by work pressure and illness. After being saved, he decides to follow Tora on his travel journey and buys a ticket to Vienna for him. Tora, however, is disinterested in Vienna, indifferent to the Royal Art Museum and Mozart as if they were preaching to the deaf. Sakaguchi has no choice but to go alone. While waiting, Tora boards the tour bus of the guide Kumiko Egami, who finds an elder woman living abroad to help Tora return to his lodging. They become acquainted. Initially, Kumiko was helped by this elder woman when she first arrived, and now Tora finds a sense of home in her presence. Kumiko, longing to return home but worried about job prospects, decides to go back with Tora after being encouraged by him. However, faced with her lover's desperate pleas to stay, she ultimately decides to remain in a foreign land with the one she loves for life. Wandering far and wide, Tora experiences the charm of his hometown abroad and no longer wishes to travel endlessly, as he can never forget his roots. Yet, upon returning to Japan, he finds himself packing his bags again and setting off.
