At a luxury hotel by the seaside, the somewhat famous writer Kenji Shimizu (played by Hidemitsu Nishijima) arrives with his wife (played by Sayuri Koyamada). Shimizu gained recognition in the literary world with his debut work, but his second book received a lukewarm response, and he is now experiencing a creative block. Meanwhile, he and his wife have grown distant, both emotionally and physically. During this time, he accidentally notices an unusual and somewhat striking couple. The unremarkable middle-aged man Sahara (played by Takeshi Kitano) is accompanied by the pure and beautiful young girl Miki (played by Shiori Kutsuna), leading to a certain ambiguity and desire that inevitably stirs Shimizu's imagination. Out of curiosity, Shimizu tries to approach them and discovers that Sahara has been documenting Miki's sleeping form for many years, filled with admiration and obsession. The other's secret deeply entangles Shimizu... This film is based on the short story "While the Woman Are Sleeping" by the renowned Spanish writer Javier Marías.
