The story takes place in Los Angeles, USA. McCusk (played by Mel Gibson) is a drug smuggler, but he is tired of living a life on the edge. He promises his friend Leonard (played by Arye Gross) that he will pull off one last big job and then retire for good. Freesia (played by Kurt Russell) appears to be McCusk's friend, but in reality, he is an undercover drug enforcement officer who has been investigating McCusk in hopes of finding evidence of his crimes. During this process, both men fall in love with the beautiful and sexy restaurant owner Valenna (played by Michelle Pfeiffer). News of this big deal soon leaks out, and the infamous Mexican Carlos (played by Raul Julia) comes to get a piece of the action.
