In a Los Angeles aircraft manufacturing plant, a fire suddenly breaks out. Worker Burkin (played by Robert Cummings) and his friend Jane bravely rush to extinguish it, but Jane unfortunately perishes in the flames. An investigation reveals that the fire extinguisher Burkin handed to Jane was filled with gasoline, leading the police to classify Burkin as a major suspect and begin a manhunt. Upon learning this, Burkin recalls that the extinguisher actually came from a worker named Fry, but the police do not give Burkin the chance to explain. In a desperate moment, Burkin escapes and sets out to find Fry to clear his name. At a farm where Fry used to work, Burkin discovers that the farm owner Dubin is also involved in the matter, prompting him to flee in haste. On the run, Burkin meets advertising model Petty (played by Priscilla Lane), and he wins her trust, allowing them to travel together. In a remote town where Fry might be hiding, Burkin disguises himself as Dubin's subordinate to infiltrate a mysterious sabotage organization...
