During the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, Dong Haichuan (played by Xie Miao) from Wen'an County, Hebei, learned excellent martial arts from his uncle Dong Xianzhou. He gained a reputation for his bravery in his hometown, helping the weak and fighting for justice. After reaching adulthood, he traveled across famous mountains and rivers, seeking out renowned masters and learning the ultimate martial arts of the world. Later, at Mount Jiuhua, he was taught by the high master, Daoist Bi Yun, during which he fell in love with his junior sister, Xuelian. After a series of bittersweet events, including parting and loss, Dong Haichuan remained unmarried for the sake of love. After many years of diligent study, he achieved the understanding of "cloaked in Bagua, embracing Tai Chi," integrating the essence of martial arts from around the world and creating his own "Roaming Bagua Linked Palm." His skills honed, he descended from the mountains to roam the world of chivalry, defeating dozens of fierce bandits, becoming famous beyond the Great Wall. By chance, the person he saved was the Fourth Prince in disguise, and the two became sworn brothers in the martial world.
Dong Haichuan moved to the capital alone to develop his skills, where he rescued the performer Jiang Long and the disguised Princess Ziyun from injustice. He later stayed at the Fourth Prince's residence as a martial arts guard, during which he fought against Prince Xiao, gaining fame in the capital. Prince Xiao noticed him and appointed him as the chief instructor and head guard, which displeased the previous instructors, the Sha couple, who attacked Dong multiple times. However, Dong used his profound martial arts to turn dangers into safe outcomes and repaid their grievances with kindness, allowing them a way out. A true hero loves his country and people. Ultimately, Dong Haichuan defeated the Russian and French masters at the International Martial Arts Competition of the Eight-Nation Alliance, raising the national spirit and thrilling the Xianfeng Emperor, who personally penned the inscription "Bagua Master." Subsequently, Dong Haichuan established his own sect, attracting thousands of disciples and becoming a generation's Bagua Master!
