Hancock (played by Will Smith) is a bulletproof superhero whom criminals fear. However, every confrontation he has with criminals ends in chaos and significant destruction, posing a great threat to the lives of citizens and public property. This is why, despite his unique abilities, he still does not gain public acceptance. His irritable and unrepentant personality further intensifies the conflict. One unfortunate day, public relations manager Ray Embrey (played by Jason Bateman) is having a terrible time; not only is he unable to sell his global compassion initiative, but he also finds himself stuck in traffic on a train track, nearly getting run over by a train. Hancock shows up just in time to save his life, indiscriminately destroying the train and the traffic at the scene, inciting public outrage. However, Ray has a brilliant idea to package Hancock and turn him into a beloved hero. Unexpectedly, the biggest opposition comes from his wife Mary (played by Charlize Theron), who insists that Hancock leave her family. As events unfold, they reveal surprising connections.
