The film depicts the tragic scenes in Eastern Europe during World War II from the perspective of a young boy. His parents send him to the countryside for refuge, but they lose contact with him. The boy begins to wander between various villages. Due to his black hair and dark eyes, the villagers believe he is a Gypsy and will bring misfortune to the village, tormenting him in various ways. He has been buried in the ground with only his head above, pecked by crows, leaving him scarred. He witnesses people devouring each other in the solid chains of violence, depravity, and ignorance. As he lies on the tracks and lets a train rush past him, he experiences only the bittersweet joy of surviving after enduring humiliation. The film presents a stunning visual texture in black and white, unfolding a chronicle of war through a magical lens.
