This is a docudrama that realistically portrays the last 12 days of Hitler's life, the final days of the Third Reich. The Soviet Red Army has entered Berlin, and Hitler (Bruno Ganz) and his mistress Eva (Juliane Köhler) have taken refuge in a bunker. Eva knows she is there to accompany Hitler into death, but she does not regret it. Even after being rejected when she pleads with Hitler for her brother-in-law, she and Hitler hold their last wedding ceremony together. Hitler's loyal follower Goebbels (Ulrich Matthes) is determined to die alongside the Führer with his whole family. He has seven children, and he and his wife are resolute about not letting their children grow up under a sky without the Empire; they commit suicide together after Hitler and Eva do. It is truly heart-wrenching. The historical truth is vividly brought to life through the lens.
