A patriotic war tragedy depicting the history of events during the Great Patriotic War. The female protagonist, Masha Yabuchkin, is only 16 years old, full of ambitions and goals for the future. Like everyone else, after graduation, the young girl is making life plans, preparing to enter university to study and pursue her cherished profession. However, unfortunately, her plans do not come to fruition, and her dreams are crushed by the harsh and relentless reality of the impending war. Masha soon has to grow up, and the protagonist is sent to an extremely dangerous railway construction within the Leningrad region, where the built railway is under fire from the Germans. To survive, she must endure many twists and turns of life.
