During the puppet Manchukuo era, the situation is turbulent. The Kwantung Army is ruthless, and the revolutionary organization known as the National Salvation Association takes action when the opportunity arises. Under this seemingly clear sky, a jobless youth nicknamed Little Northeast (played by Lei Jiayin) roams the streets, living by swindling and deceiving people. By chance, he unexpectedly learns a secret: the Kwantung Army is sending a shipment of gold to the heavily guarded Yamato Bank, and the National Salvation Association members, led by the actress Fang Die (played by Tao Hong), decide to seize the gold in order to thwart the Japanese plan to purchase weapons from Italy. With greed for the gold, Little Northeast shamelessly insists on getting involved. Although he often succeeds with his clever tricks, he also brings considerable trouble to Fang Die and the others. Their opponent—Kwantung Army Colonel Toriyama Yukinobu (played by Yamazaki Keiichi) is cunning and treacherous, becoming their biggest obstacle. Will the plan to seize the gold ultimately succeed?
