The story takes place in Taiwan. Yu Zai (played by Zhang Yanming) is tempted by a large sum of money to assassinate a certain legislator. Unexpectedly, a stray bullet hits the wife of police officer A Dog (Chen Enfeng), Mei Ping (Bai Xinhui), causing their daughter Pei Pei (Chen Shiying) to become overly traumatized and develop autism. A Dog vows to capture the killer to avenge his wife. Four individuals mistaken for the murderer are killed by the police, but A Dog is convinced that the real culprit is someone else. One day, Yu Zai and A Dog unexpectedly meet and discover they are actually fellow townsmen from years ago. When A Dog realizes that Yu Zai is the true killer, Yu Zai has already swum away quickly. Yu Zai kidnaps Pei Pei and sneaks back into his long-lost hometown, where his elderly father mistakens Pei Pei for his deceased daughter from many years ago, leaving Yu Zai, who stands by, with tears in his eyes. With his daughter kidnapped, the inherently violent A Dog brings Yu Zai's family along to rescue her. After a quest for redemption, they swap hostages...
