Chala (played by Armando Valdes Freire) is born into a poor family at the very bottom of society. His father left him at a young age, and his mother is deeply affected by drug addiction, leaving her unable to care for or pay attention to Chala. Having to fend for himself, Chala survives by training fighting dogs, which has made his character very cold and violent. In school, everyone believes Chala is a hopeless child, except for his homeroom teacher, Carmela (played by Alina Rodríguez), who thinks Chala is just a kind boy with an extreme desire for love. When Carmela falls ill and needs to be hospitalized, a new teacher takes over her class. The new teacher is not a patient person, misinterprets Chala’s actions, and ultimately sends him to a juvenile detention center.
