The debut film directed by Yoshihiro Hanano, "The Woman in the Rain," will be released in 2016. This work is based on Hanano's original screenplay and features a wide range of compositions, including electronic music, orchestral works, and film scores for directors such as Hou Hsiao-hsien and Jia Zhangke. The story follows a lonely man named Norio, who adopts the alias "Kenji," disguising himself with glasses and a hearing aid each morning before heading to work. His life begins to change when he takes in a woman with a secret, and he gradually becomes attracted to her, making it difficult for him to remain "Kenji." The protagonist, Norio, who lives as a different person to escape from a past mistake and avoids connections with others, is portrayed by Takataka Aoki, known for his role as Sagara Sanosuke in the "Rurouni Kenshin" series. The mysterious woman, who becomes entangled with Norio, is played by Ito Ohno, who has upcoming releases like "Ten no Chasuke" and "Forgotten Snow." Hanano commented on why he decided to pursue directing, stating, "Music is a very abstract art. When I wanted to depict more about humanity and stories, I found that it was in film." Regarding the choices of Aoki and Ohno, he said, "I thought I could portray the little-known Takataka Aoki and the little-known Ito Ohno. Aoki seems broad-minded but is actually a very delicate and meticulous person. I feel a fragility and strength in Ohno, like a butterfly just before its metamorphosis. In this film, I'm sure audiences will see two individuals they have never encountered before." Additionally, the film is currently running a project on the crowdfunding platform "Motion Gallery" to raise part of its production costs until April 30. Supporter rewards include invitations to the film's completion party, tickets to music events hosted by Hanano, and gifts of filming props.
