In the 1950s, in a certain city. A Fu (Li Shoucheng) is the son of Zhang Qixin (Qi Heng), the supply section chief at a factory. One day, he brings home a Soviet-made oil drill sample, which A Fu accidentally sells to an old man (Li Baoluo) who buys scrap metal. With the money he makes, A Fu buys a parachute from his classmate Yongxiang (Tian Feng). When Zhang Qixin discovers the drill sample is missing and inquires about it, he learns that his son sold it as scrap, which makes him very anxious. Knowing he's caused a big problem, A Fu rushes to take his father and sister to find the old man who buys scrap. After a series of difficulties, they learn that the scrap has already been delivered to a recycling station, and by the time they arrive there, the metal has been sent to a distant steel mill. A Fu decides to rush to the steel mill overnight to retrieve the treasure. Shuangxi (Zhu Huaining) and Zhang Qixin accompany him as they hurry to the mill. In the dead of night, the three finally arrive at their destination. Will A Fu be able to find the lost treasure...?
