The film's screenplay is written by Australian novelist Julia Leigh, marking her directorial debut. This work was nominated for the main competition section at the 64th Cannes Film Festival but ultimately did not win any awards. The film tells a fairytale story set in modern times about a female university student. Lucy (Emily Browning) is a naive college student by day, but at night she takes on another identity—“Sleeping Beauty.” This special job allows her to fall into a deep sleep in a strange room, awakening with no memory of anything, as if nothing had happened.
