On Children's Day, Tora (played by Kiyoshi Atsumi) had just returned from a trip and intended to buy some carp streamers for Manno to celebrate, but things went awry due to some minor issues. Feeling dejected, he decided to set out on another journey. Along the way, he accidentally discovered a downcast woman wandering by the river, and upon returning to the inn, he encountered her again. Feeling sympathetic, Tora invited her to taste the local specialties, but this led him into financial trouble. On his way back, Tora met an elderly man of noble descent, establishing a unique connection with him. The old man had lost his young son, and his daughter-in-law, Yoshiko, had left home. Initially, there was a conflict between the old man and Yoshiko due to her commoner background and social status concerns. Now, the old man yearned to find her and resolve his inner unease. By coincidence, Yoshiko turned out to be the woman Tora had met at the inn. Both were apprehensive yet eager to meet, ultimately clearing up the misunderstandings between them. The old man even considered having Tora become Yoshiko's life partner, which left Tora in a state of hesitation and turmoil. He didn't know how to choose but was filled with anticipation for the future and moved by the notion of love.
