The story takes place in a future world where Ah Long (played by Leon Lai) and Ah Qiang (played by Jacky Cheung) are special police officers tasked with capturing monsters. However, their superior (played by Yuen Woo-ping) holds Ah Long in high regard while being suspicious of Ah Qiang. Frustrated, Ah Qiang drowns his sorrows in a bar and finds comfort in his girlfriend's (played by Li Ruotong) support. Nevertheless, he is haunted by a shadow—his mother is also a monster, a secret he eventually reveals to Ah Long. Ah Long then confesses a romantic involvement with the monster Huan Ji (played by Kelly Chen)... Afterward, during an operation to capture Yuan Dazong (played by Nakamura Tatsuya), Ah Long reunites with Huan Ji, now Yuan's wife, leading to numerous misunderstandings. In reality, Yuan Dazong is a monster seeking collaboration with humans, but there is another group of liquid monsters wreaking havoc in the city. Throughout their battle against the liquid monsters, Ah Long and Huan Ji's relationship faces life-and-death challenges, while Yuan Dazong's son Gui Zhong Dao (played by Cheung Yiu Yeung) schemes to exploit their differences and eliminate humans.
