This film is adapted from the 1998 nonfiction book of the same name by Stephen Rebello. It chronicles the various efforts that Hitchcock (played by Anthony Hopkins) made during the filming of "Psycho." Throughout the production, his relationship with his wife Alma (played by Helen Mirren) becomes a focal point of interest. Subsequently, "Psycho" became one of Hitchcock's classic masterpieces, telling the story of actress Janet Leigh (played by Scarlett Johansson) as secretary Marion, who, after embezzling money from her boss, escapes to a remote motel, where she is brutally murdered by the schizophrenic motel owner Norman (played by Anthony Perkins, portrayed by James D'Arcy). Her terrifying screams in the film have become one of the most unforgettable images in film history, earning her nominations for the Golden Globe and the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress that year.
