Jeff Lebowski, nicknamed "The Dude" (played by Jeff Bridges), is a slacker and an aimless middle-aged man whose greatest pastime is bowling with his equally inept friends Walter (played by John Goodman) and Donny (played by Steve Buscemi). One day, a group of thugs mistakes him for a millionaire in town with the same name and threatens him, even urinating on his rug as they leave. After being wronged, The Dude seeks compensation from the millionaire (played by David Huddleston) but to no avail, and impulsively steals a rug from him. A few days later, the millionaire asks The Dude for help after his young wife, Bunny (played by Tara Reid), is kidnapped. The Dude is requested to deliver the ransom to the kidnappers, thus embarking on a comically absurd crime caper with his two friends...
