Bill (played by Aaron Eckhart) doesn't know how his life has fallen to such a point. He is an insignificant, unambitious little employee in the bank run by his father-in-law, and in what should be a warm and happy home, his wife Jess (played by Elizabeth Banks) is indifferent to his frustrations, instead having an affair with news anchor Chip (played by Timothy Olyphant). Looking at himself, with a large belly and an unsettling hairline, everything has caused him to lose hope in life. One day, Bill meets a mysterious young man (played by Logan Lerman) and the beautiful lingerie salesperson Lucy (played by Jessica Alba), and with their encouragement and help, Bill regains his confidence and decides to make a complete transformation from the inside out.
