Action film king Zhang Che's extraordinary work brings to life the legendary deeds of the anti-Japanese heroes at "Eight道楼子" with a surge of patriotic sentiment. This film won the Best Narrative Feature Award at the 13th Golden Horse Awards. In 1933, the Japanese army deployed 20,000 troops and over 50 tanks to attack the stronghold of "Eight道楼子." Our troops, outnumbered, held the stronghold against the Japanese attack for five days and nights, but ultimately fell. The Japanese discovered only seven brutally mutilated corpses inside the building and stood in solemn respect, erecting a monument to the "Seven Brave Chinese Soldiers." Zhang Che, with his team including actors Ti Lung, David Chiang, Fu Sheng, and Chen Kuan-tai, portrays the moving stories of these nameless heroes. He seamlessly integrates martial arts action into grand warfare, perfectly uniting firepower and muscle. Within "Eight道楼子," the astonishing will of these unsung souls is captured by Zhang Che's haunting imagery in tribute to them.
