This film is a representative work of the famous director and martial arts choreographer Cheng Xiaodong during his acting era. The story describes how Cheng Xiaodong is imprisoned for manslaughter, and a dying inmate hands him half of a bronze plate, instructing him to find the other half to know its mysterious use. Later, Cheng befriends Hou Zhaosheng in prison, and they escape together; during their flight, they learn that the bronze plate is involved in a martial arts feud and discover that each has half of the plate. When the two halves are combined, they reveal the words "Changuan Mountain, Tiger Ridge," along with a mountain map. Following the clues, they go to Changbai Mountain's Tiger Ridge to find the secret manual of "Tongbi Quan" and train hard to fight against their pursuers…
