This movie directly follows Episode 27 of the TV series. In Episode 27, Ryotaro and his friends travel back in time to track down the Imaginary Demon God, unaware that they have fallen into a trap set by Gaar. After defeating the Imaginary Demon God and trying to return to the Den-Liner, they find that the Den-Liner has already been hijacked by Gaar...Everyone is forced to stay in the past, and the worst-case scenario is that Ryotaro loses all memories of becoming Den-O, which prevents Momotaros from possessing Ryotaro's body. By chance, Ryotaro meets his 10-year-old self (referred to as "Kotaro" in the film) and the Imaginary Demon God Zig, and with Sakurai's help, begins the journey to track down the Den-Liner.On the other hand, Gaar, who returned to the Edo period, successfully acquires the God Train Gao-Liner and captures the pursuing Ryotaro, taking the Gao-Liner back to December 26, 1988.In 1988, Ryotaro regains his memories but is prevented from transforming by Gaar. At that moment, Sakurai appears with reinforcements, three different versions of Ryotaro from different times.
