This is a world beyond reality, where people have no concept of what a lie is; they work and live normally, but every word spoken is the truth. A young man named Mark (Ricky Gervais) who has just gone through unemployment, a breakup, and financial struggles one day discovers this secret—he tells a lie and his bank account suddenly increases, and people who have never encountered a lie fully believe him. Tasting success, Mark begins to exploit this secret; he lies continuously to get whatever he wants. As Mark's lies become more outrageous, the number of people who believe him grows, leading to increasingly uncontrollable situations.
