16-year-old girl Yui (played by YUI) lives in a seaside town. She is youthful and beautiful, but unlike her peers, she cannot freely play and run on the sunlit beach. This is because she suffers from a rare disease—xeroderma pigmentosum (XP), which means her skin cannot be exposed to sunlight; otherwise, it can be life-threatening. From then on, she must avoid sunlight during the day and can only sneak out at night to the station square to sing her favorite songs. During this time, she gradually falls for the surfing boy Takaharu Fujishiro (played by Takashi Tsukamoto), who often passes by the station. One day, she gathers her courage and confesses her feelings to Takaharu. The gentle sea breeze ushers in their slowly warming romance. However, like Cinderella in a fairy tale, no matter how much she longs for him, she must return home before sunrise. For her, as her life force gradually diminishes, both love and music have become incredibly luxurious things...
