Former NFL player Steve Gleason was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) at the age of 34. Two weeks later, his wife discovered she was pregnant, and Gleason began to document his life daily through video, capturing the birth of his son, the lives of the Gleason family, and the progression of his illness. As the child was born and grew up, Gleason became increasingly weak, eventually becoming completely paralyzed from the neck down and losing his ability to speak. Despite facing a terminal illness, Gleason never gave up on life and found a new direction—he established a nonprofit organization and fund in his name to improve and help the lives of other ALS patients.
