The sci-fi film "Back to the Future" featured a time-traveling sports car that was mass-produced in real life, but the company went bankrupt before the movie was released. The founder of the company, John DeLorean, was a British man once hailed as the most daring car manufacturer in history, and possibly the biggest automotive con artist ever. Recently, a documentary titled "Creating John DeLorean" released its first teaser (exclusive translated subtitles from Mtime), featuring Alec Baldwin, known for frequently impersonating Trump on TV, as DeLorean himself, and Morena Baccarin from "Deadpool" playing DeLorean's supermodel wife. "Creating John DeLorean" is not just a straightforward documentary; it combines interviews with the real John DeLorean, his children, and colleagues, along with "recreated scenes" featuring Alec Baldwin, even including Baldwin's interviews during breaks on set. It’s a unique mix of documentary and narrative film, set to be released in some theaters in the U.S. on June 7 this year. DeLorean was an American car manufacturing company founded in 1975 by automotive executive John DeLorean, a British national. It became famous for producing the distinctive DeLorean DMC-12, known for its gullwing doors and stainless steel body. The DeLorean sports car gained fame through the widely popular "Back to the Future" movie, which premiered in 1985, but the DeLorean company filed for bankruptcy in 1982. In the film, the DeLorean DMC-12 is modified by the eccentric scientist Dr. Emmett L. Brown into a time machine, becoming an iconic image in popular culture. Due to the bankruptcy, new cars ceased production, and the DMC-12 became a collector's item. However, even today, many DMC-12s are still in use. It is estimated that of the approximately 9,000 DMC-12 cars produced, around 6,500 are still operational, with many owner and enthusiast clubs still very active, even forming a special subculture.
