The story takes place in 1990. In the United States, an auto mechanic named John Gray (played by David Dencik) is arrested for allegedly molesting his daughter Angela (played by Emma Watson). The officer in charge of the investigation, Bruce Kenner (played by Ethan Hawke), begins to question John, who initially admits to the crime but suddenly claims to have amnesia. To address this unexpected situation, psychologist Dr. Kenneth Raines (played by David Thewlis) also gets involved in the investigation. They discover that John is a follower of a black cult that worships Satan, and even Bruce's partner may be involved. Bruce and Kenneth try to unlock the memories of the suspect and the victim, prompting them to recall a past that is hard to confront… This film is based on true events.
