In 2008, Republican candidate John McCain (played by Ed Harris) competes with Democratic candidate Barack Obama for the 44th President of the United States. Facing a disadvantage in the campaign, McCain heeds the advice of his senior campaign adviser (played by Woody Harrelson) and decides to select a woman as his vice-presidential candidate to boost his competitiveness. After some consideration, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin (played by Julianne Moore) is successfully chosen. However, after her selection, Palin frequently surprises the campaign team with her behavior and knowledge. Although her performance improves after several special training sessions and even helps the campaign team achieve some notable results, can Palin's involvement turn the tide and change the fate of McCain's team? This film is adapted from the 2010 book of the same name and is directed by Jay Roach, who also directed "Recount," which reenacted the 2000 U.S. election.
