This is a film about growing up and rebellion. Thirteen-year-old Tracy (Evan Rachel Wood) is raised in a single-parent household and has always been a model student, the pride of her mother, Melanie (Holly Hunter). However, everything changes when Tracy enters middle school. Tracy's classmate Evie (Nikki Reed) is the center of attention, dressed provocatively and having a stunning figure, and Tracy starts to see Evie as her role model. She begins to hang out with Evie, learning bad habits like drinking and drug use. Melanie is at a loss to understand her once obedient daughter’s sudden changes, and due to a lack of effective communication, the mother-daughter duo experiences a series of irreconcilable conflicts. Can Tracy successfully navigate this challenge of growing up?
