Oscar (voiced by Reiko Tajima) is from a noble family and was raised as a boy because there are no male heirs in her family. At the age of fourteen, a political marriage between Austria and France takes place, and Austrian princess Marie (voiced by Miyuki Ueda) is about to marry French prince Louis (voiced by Yoshito Anno). Oscar's father sends her to the palace guard, entrusting her with the important duty of protecting Marie, so that the family can secure a place for themselves amid the bloody court struggles. Later, Oscar and Marie meet the young noble Fersen, and both fall in love with this charming aristocrat. However, Fersen chooses Marie, and his love for her is sincere and profound. Oscar watches this unfold with great pain. After the emperor's death, Louis ascends to the throne, and Marie becomes queen, but her affair with Fersen can no longer be hidden.
