The story takes place in the mysterious ocean, where the little mermaid is the favorite daughter of the sea king, possessing the most enchanting singing voice. One day, the little mermaid's song draws a prince to the reef, and his ship hits the rocks, causing him to fall into the sea and be on the brink of death. At this critical moment, the little mermaid, disregarding her father's objections, insists on saving the prince and falls deeply in love with him. The prince mistakenly believes that a girl who happened to pass by is his savior and vows to marry her. The little mermaid seeks out the witch, hoping to be granted human legs, knowing that the price she must pay is to never be able to speak again. The prince discovers the little mermaid and takes her back to the palace. The subjects wish for the prince to marry the princess of a neighboring country, and unexpectedly, that princess turns out to be the girl who passed by that day, leading the prince to immediately decide to marry her.
