The film is adapted from the novel of the same name published in 2006 by French writer Franz-Olivier Giesbert. The story is based on a real-life gangster shootout that occurred in Jacques Bet in France in the late 1970s. Charly Matte (played by Jean Reno) was once a godfather figure of the Marseille gang. After a long career in the Marseille Mafia, he bids farewell to the chaotic life and begins to walk on the straight path. For three years, this man, who seeks only a quiet life to enjoy his remaining days with his wife and children, believes he can completely leave behind the dark years of his past. However, one cold winter morning, everything changes drastically when Charly is ambushed, shot multiple times, and falls in the garage. Doctors find 22 bullets in Charly’s body, yet he miraculously survives. Who orchestrated this assassination, and who betrayed him? All the truths will be revealed…
