With great power comes great responsibility. Spider-Man Peter Parker (played by Andrew Garfield) faces a momentous battle against crime and disaster while finally preparing for his graduation. However, a past emotional conflict has caused his relationship with girlfriend Gwen Stacy (played by Emma Stone) to reach a freezing point. Gwen applies for a job at Oscorp, the company that provides power to the entire city, during which two events unfold that will inevitably alter the fate of the company and Peter. The head of Oscorp passes away, and his son Harry (played by Dane DeHaan) inherits the $200 billion conglomerate at the age of 20. Meanwhile, the power engineer Max Dillon (played by Jamie Foxx), who idolizes Spider-Man, accidentally dies while repairing equipment, only to wake up transformed into a superhuman filled with electric power.
