The film tells the memories and stories of a patient living in a mental hospital, resembling a mad journey of imagination or the insurmountable fear that people have towards repulsive personifications. The esteemed Mr. Mario Agosti is an upright political figure, while his twin brother, Philip, is a pleasure-seeking con artist, regarded as the black sheep of the family. In an attempt to surpass his popular celebrity brother, Philip begins to associate with figures in politics and business, and soon starts to gain advantages from those in power. These political and business figures are fascinated by the mental and practical risks of Philip's plans and trust him unhesitatingly. However, when Philip employs some improper methods but fails to secure an important agreement on uranium mining with an African head of state, a group of politicians decides to permanently replace his identity with that of his overly honest brother. Thus, Philip becomes the honest Mr. Mario Agosti, while the real Mario, for insisting on maintaining his true identity, is sent to a mental institution.
