The Thompsons, a family of four, including father Tom, mother Sophie, and their two daughters Jess and Katie, are a quintessentially quirky family. One day, they invite a stranger to dinner, who unexpectedly dies at the table, making them murder suspects. Six months later, a family friend, Tim Tanaka, reveals the family’s secret to psychologist Eric Sykes, who shockingly shows no professional ethics in keeping it confidential. Soon, the Thompsons gain notoriety in the newspapers and are labeled the "Murder Family," with the facts becoming increasingly distorted. The 65th British Academy Film Awards (2012) Film Award - Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer. "Black Pond" is an independent film from 2011 that received widespread acclaim. It had a production budget of only £25,000, and the two directors, Tom Kingsley and Will Sharpe, were both in their mid-twenties at the time of filming. The film depicts how even normal people can act abnormally, which perhaps applies to Chris Langham, the lead actor. "Black Pond" is the first film he took on after serving three and a half months in prison for charges related to "child pornography," following his previous success with "The Day Today."
