The story takes place in the 1970s in America, where Patricia (played by Toni Collette) and her father Stan (played by Frank Moore) live a life of dependence on each other. Due to her unfortunate childhood experiences, Patricia longs for a child of her own. She becomes pregnant through artificial insemination and gives birth to a boy named Henry (played by Jason Spevack). At just 9 months old, Henry already shows extraordinary talent and intelligence, but his cleverness does not bring him happiness. Henry yearns to know who his father is, so with Stan's help, he embarks on a journey to find him, ultimately targeting a man named Slavkin (played by Michael Sheen). Meanwhile, Henry also discovers that he has a half-sister named Audrey (played by Samantha Weinstein).
