A stabbing victim is discovered at a material storage site. The victim is a woman in her twenties who runs a small snack bar locally. Soon after, a 19-year-old youth is arrested on suspicion of murder and body abandonment. The defense for the youth is entrusted to Daizaru Kikuchi (played by Kippei Shiina), a former judge turned lawyer who, following a certain trial, has become fixated on the past and turned his back on the "truth." Although it seemed to be a straightforward trial with a confession from the youth, during the interrogation by the prosecution, the youth denies having any intent to kill in court. As Kikuchi investigates the young man's background, he once again confronts the "truth." Eventually, unexpected facts begin to surface in the courtroom, perplexing those who must judge.
