Known as the "Three Swords of World Domination," the Tenseiga, the Sounga, and the Tetsusaiga govern the heavens, the earth, and humanity, all once possessed by Inuyasha's father, the Dog General. The Dog General fell in love with the human princess, Kikyo, and gave birth to Inuyasha, which incited the jealousy of the warrior Sesshomaru, who secretly loved Kikyo. Wounded, the Dog General used Tenseiga to revive his lover, who had been killed by Sesshomaru, leading to a showdown with him. After a fierce battle, as the Dog General lay dying, he entrusted Tenseiga and Tetsusaiga to Sesshomaru and Inuyasha, respectively, while the evil and powerful Sounga was permanently sealed away. Hundreds of years later, Sounga comes to the modern era through the Bone-Eater's Well, freed from its seal. It first takes control of Inuyasha's body and returns to the Sengoku period to engage in a fierce battle with Sesshomaru. In a moment of crisis, Kagome's power forces Sounga to leave Inuyasha's body.
