Yang Hanyun and her uncle make a living running an inn outside the Great Wall, inheriting exceptional martial arts skills from him. One day, she goes to town to purchase goods and encounters martial arts masters known as the "Three Linked Heroes" who provoke her. Fortunately, a young man named Wang Jianxin comes to her aid. At this moment, Yang Hanyun suddenly notices that many martial arts experts have gathered in town, searching for someone who, like Yang Kaiyun, also uses a whip as a weapon - the Shadow Whip, Fang Chengtian. The martial world widely claims that fifteen years ago, Fang Chengtian kidnapped a large amount of priceless jewelry from a courier station, causing the death of Yang Zongbiao, the bodyguard responsible at the time, leaving his family devastated. Even now, various experts are still searching for Fang Chengtian, intending to kill him and reclaim the jewelry. Yang Hanyun returns to the inn and meets Hong Dapeng, who has come to find Fang Chengtian. This person was once a sworn brother of Fang Chengtian, but now he leads the hunt for him in the martial world. Yang Hanyun's uncle confronts Fang Chengtian, and at that moment, Yang Hanyun discovers that her uncle is the Fang Chengtian that the martial world has been searching for over fifteen years. Fang Chengtian orders Yang Hanyun to return to the town first. She finds Wang Jianxin, and the two develop feelings for each other. Wang Jianxin tells Yang Kaiyun that he is actually the nephew of Yang Zongbiao, and although he fell in love with Yang Kaiyun at first sight, he has not forgotten to seek revenge for his uncle. Wang Jianxin and Yang Hanyun break through the siege of numerous masters and return to the inn. Fang Chengtian explains the truth to them... Years ago, at Hong Dapeng's invitation, Fang Chengtian assisted Yang Zongbiao in delivering goods but encountered a masked man who also used a whip, killing innocents at Yang Zongbiao's station the night before departure. The masked man stole the jewelry, while Fang Chengtian saved Yang Zongbiao's daughter. To protect the child, Fang Chengtian endured various speculations from the martial world, hiding with her outside the Great Wall. The girl from that year is today’s Yang Hanyun. With all truths revealed, it appears that the masked man from that year was Hong Dapeng. He stole the jewelry and framed Fang Chengtian, instigating the martial world to hunt him down. In front of numerous martial arts experts, Yang Hanyun personally killed Hong Dapeng, avenging her parents' blood feud. Fang Chengtian also finally cleared his name after many years and returned to a normal life. Highlights: This classic martial arts film, produced by Shaw Brothers Studio and directed by Lo Wei, is adapted from Ni Kuang's novel "Reflected Glory." It narrates a tale of grievances in the martial world in a flashback manner. The film stars the renowned "Golden Swallow," Cheng Pei-pei, and is also her last martial arts film before marriage.
