Fast food worker Ah Yin (Stephen Chow) encounters Ah Li (Christy Chung), who is training in Japanese karate at a martial arts school, and falls in love at first sight. After being humiliated by the martial arts coach Lin Guobin, who also likes Ah Li, Ah Yin, feeling too weak, decides to apprentice under Uncle Da (Ng Man-tat), who calls himself the "Devil Muscle Man." Initially, Uncle Da only wants to trick Ah Yin out of his money, but he is eventually touched by Ah Yin's kindness and determination and begins to teach him ancient Chinese martial arts. When Ah Li is intercepted by a bad guy, Ah Yin, wearing a Garfield mask, rushes to save her and, in a moment of desperation, rolls down from a high platform with the thug, inadvertently creating the "Invincible Fire Wheel." However, afterward, Lin Guobin takes credit for it. To prove his strength, Ah Yin signs up for a fighting competition to duel Lin Guobin, hoping to win Ah Li's heart in the process.
