Peter (Ron Livingston) is deeply troubled by his current situation; his dull and tedious job makes him feel hopeless about the future. His boss is a complete jerk yet is so meticulous that he can't be caught slipping up. What saddens Peter the most is his strong suspicion that his girlfriend has been cheating on him. Meanwhile, the company announces layoffs. In the midst of these misfortunes, only his two slacker friends, Michael (David Herman) and Samir (Ajay Naidu), can bring some joy to Peter. Under his girlfriend's strong urging, Peter, increasingly anxious, visits a psychologist. Unexpectedly, something goes wrong during hypnosis, which means Peter will spend the following days in a hypnotized state. To his surprise, the uncharacteristic Peter gains favor with his boss, while his two friends face layoffs.
