Matsukichi (played by Eiji Funakoshi), a producer at a television station, is a man of flirtation and infidelity, with no fewer than ten mistresses in addition to his wife, Futa (played by Fujiko Yamamoto). Futa is aware of her husband's actions but feels helpless, so she focuses on managing a bar to ease her distress. Matsukichi's mistresses are jealous of each other and know of one another's existence; although they resent Matsukichi's promiscuity, they are still infatuated with him. One of the mistresses, Ichiko Ishishita (played by Keiko Kishi), approaches Futa and hints at wanting to kill Matsukichi. Although it is said jokingly, it sends a shiver down Matsukichi's spine. Once his fear subsides, he plans with his wife to stage a fake death to completely escape the entanglement of these women... Directed by Kon Ichikawa, with the screenplay written by Natsujo Wada.
