In the early 1980s, a rural girl from Huangshan named Gong Lingling (played by Li Ling) comes to Beijing alone as a nanny to pay off her family's debts. As a newcomer from the countryside, she inevitably faces strange looks from some city folks, and Lingling is no exception.
