In the late Ming Dynasty, the young emperor was vulnerable, and treacherous officials held power. Qian Bingzhang, a former cabinet minister, colluded with the secret police, the Jinyiwei, to secretly conspire with Ouyang Wenchang, raising attack dogs to harm loyal officials. The prince sought to uphold the dynasty's principles and recruited righteous men from the jianghu to confront Qian Bingzhang. Hong Tao was originally a righteous man, and by chance, he rescued the prince's wife when he witnessed injustice, prompting the prince to appoint him as the head of the guards in his residence. His junior sister, Tang Xiaomei, came to summon him back to his master, but Hong Tao refused. Tang Xiaomei eventually discovered that the princess had secretly fallen in love with Hong Tao. With a fiery temperament, Xiaomei decided to punish the princess. She pretended to ally with Ouyang Wenchang, using the opportunity to infiltrate the prince's residence to attempt to assassinate the princess, but was stopped by Hong Tao. To subdue Qian Bingzhang and regain the military book, the prince sought help from Duke Du of the Eastern Depot. Duke Du dispatched two masked assassins to protect the prince and deal with Qian Bingzhang. Anticipating trouble, Qian Bingzhang moved the military book to his brother's home, but Hong Tao, who was following him, managed to steal the book.
Xiaomei took advantage of the prince's orders to enter the palace to once again sneak into the prince's residence at night and abduct the princess to a nunnery. Xiaomei discovered that the princess indeed had deep feelings for Hong Tao, which stirred her compassion, and she left the nunnery. Upon learning that the princess had been kidnapped, Hong Tao hurried out to search. Xiaomei returned to the Jinyiwei headquarters and accidentally learned that her father had been killed by the Jinyiwei, and in a fit of rage, she attacked but ultimately was outnumbered and escaped. Xiaomei encountered Hong Tao and informed him of her father's death and where the princess was hiding. Hong Tao rushed to the nunnery and fought against the Jinyiwei. In the end, the princess was fatally struck by a hidden arrow while trying to save Hong Tao, dying in his arms. The prince decisively ordered the capture of Qian Bingzhang's brother. Qian Bingzhang charged into the prince's residence with Ouyang Wenchang. During the fierce battle, Hong Tao used the Tianshu Liu Yang Palm to kill Ouyang Wenchang. Desperate, Qian Bingzhang revealed the "Rakshasa Great Hand Seal," but ultimately succumbed to four strikes of Hong Tao's "Tianshu Liu Yang Palm." Not swayed by high positions and wealth, Hong Tao resolutely left the prince's residence with his master and junior sister.
