Former Hong Kong boxing champion Cheng Hui (played by Zhang Jiawei), after his fall from grace in the boxing world, becomes addicted to gambling and accumulates massive debts. To escape his creditors, he flees to Macau. In a shared apartment, Cheng Hui encounters a mother and daughter; the mother (played by Mei Ting) suffers from mental illness, and the young girl (played by Li Xinqiao) not only has to go to school but also has to care for her mother. Cheng Hui and the girl bond well, often dressing up as animals and performing skits to cheer up the girl's mother. Meanwhile, rich second-generation Lin Siqi (played by Peng Yuyan) faces family turmoil as his father (played by Gao Jie) loses his business and becomes destitute, spending all his time in bars. To encourage his down-and-out father to start life anew, Lin Siqi signs up for MMA. He registers at a boxing club where he meets Cheng Hui, who is working at the club, and becomes his apprentice to learn boxing. After several months of training, Lin Siqi wins several matches in MMA, becoming the new boxing champion. Shortly thereafter, he faces a challenge from another expert (played by An Zhijie) and is injured, leading to his withdrawal from the match. Meanwhile, creditors find Cheng Hui, and in the ensuing altercation, he accidentally injures the mother and daughter. Cheng Hui feels deeply guilty and wants to stop dragging others down, so he begins retraining in mixed martial arts, hoping to win matches in MMA and earn prize money to repay his gambling debts. In MMA, Cheng Hui, at the age of over forty, faces skepticism as he challenges boxers. His opponent happens to be An Zhijie, the new champion who defeated his apprentice Lin Siqi...
